efore coming to Brazil, the Bucsky family lived in Budapest, capital of Hungary, where they own a 1001 place restaurant across from the Opera Theater.
After the First World War, with the taken over by the Socialists in Russia,
the population of Hungary suffered with the political problems that affected
the country.
Therefore, in February, 1927, Peter Bucsky - a widower at the time - and his
three sons, José, Stephan and Carlos, left to São Paulo, searching for a
better life, leaving behind, in their country, the rest of the family, their
estate and love.

Restaurant in Budapest
For some decades, on Rua do Rosário, in downtown Rio de Janeiro, the
Restaurante Bucsky has been running, specialized in international food.
The place where the restaurant was located belonged to Mrs. Vitalina Neves,
also the owner of several estates in Nova Friburgo. One day, around the due
date of the rent, Mr. José Bucsky, one of the owners of the restaurant, went
to Friburgo to negociate with Mrs. Neves.
With the money that he had taken, he paid the rent for the following two
years and bought a estate in the Mury District, in Ponte da Saudade, near the
railroad, where the hotel was built.
Little by little, the Bucsky family moved to Nova Friburgo, selling the
restaurant and concentrating all of their efforts in the hotel activities.
So, in December 19, 1940, the Hotel Bucsky was open. At the beginning, it had
only 8 rooms. Today, with 70, it is still run by the family, in its third
generation.
Built in European style, the Hotel Bucsky presents full ENTERTAINMENT and
CONVENTION facilities. It also stands out for the standard of service of its
staff and owners, that with quality but without excess sophistication, makes
their guests feel at home.
